However, it is easier to perform tricks at the skatepark if the scooter's handlebars are lower. On the street, a trick scooter with a higher handlebar is more comfortable. The inner and outer diameter of the handlebars is important if you need to change or adjust the clamping (compression system) or the forks (which connect the handlebars to the front wheel). Handlebars are made of aluminium, steel alloy or titanium. This affects their weight and strength. An aluminium handlebar will be lighter, while a titanium handlebar will be both light and strong, but both are usually made in larger diameters.

The steering column is a special mechanism mounted inside the steering column. It is responsible for the manoeuvrability of the scooter - transferring the driver's torque from the handlebar to the wheel. Thanks to a special design trick, the handlebar of scooters can rotate 360°. The tightening or compression system of the steering column affects both the weight of the scooter and its ease of use. For example, the ICS compression system is cheap and lightweight, but tends to come loose more quickly and requires special tools to service it. The easy-to-maintain and highly reliable SCS compression system adds a significant amount of extra weight to the scooter. In addition to ICS and SCS, HIC, IHC and, most recently, SLC are popular and provide excellent steering performance.

When choosing the length and width of a trike platform, the height and weight of the rider are the most important criteria, but the style and location of the ride are also important. A short and narrow platform is more manoeuvrable and therefore preferred by skatepark riders. On the street, a scooter with a wider and longer platform is more stable, easier to balance on the rear wheel or to make big jumps.
